NonProfit Finder ("the App") is a free application that helps users discover and explore nonprofit organizations. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your information.

Information We Collect

Location Data

The App may request access to your device's location to find nonprofits near you. Location data is:

• Only accessed when you explicitly tap "Use My Location" or "Near Me"
• Used solely to sort search results by distance
• Never stored on any server or shared with third parties
• Processed entirely on your device

Local Storage

The App stores the following data locally on your device:

• Your favorite nonprofits and notes
• Search preferences and saved filters
• Onboarding completion status
• Selected state sync preferences
• App theme preference (light/dark)

This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to any external server.

Nonprofit Database

The App syncs publicly available nonprofit data (from IRS filings and public records) from our cloud database to your device for offline access. This data is public information and contains no personal user data.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect personal information (name, email, phone number)
• We do not use analytics or tracking tools
• We do not display advertisements
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties
• We do not create user accounts or profiles

NonProfit Finder is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government agency. This is an independent, unofficial application. All nonprofit data is sourced from publicly available U.S. government records:

• IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File (irs.gov)
• IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search (irs.gov)
• IRS 990 E-File Financial Data (irs.gov)

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase — to sync public nonprofit data to your device. No personal data is sent to Supabase.
• Expo/React Native — the framework used to build the App. No personal data is collected by these frameworks.

Data Security

All data is stored locally on your device using standard device storage mechanisms. The App does not transmit any personal or sensitive user data over the internet.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The App contains only public nonprofit information and does not require any personal data to use.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
